Tonya's journey into doula work stems from her own path to motherhood. Now, she's dedicated to providing the same level of knowledge, resources, and support to others. Passionate about holding space for her clients, Tonya values diversity, challenges biases against black mothers, and advocates for the inclusion of LGBTQ+ individuals.

Birth Doula and Photographer, Childbirth Educator: Courtney

(Serving NOVA and DC with a small travel fee)

Courtney's journey into the world of doula support began at the age of 19 when a friend invited her to witness a homebirth. It was during those intense 72 hours of labor that Courtney found her calling and became captivated by the transformative power of birth. This initial experience ignited a passion within her, leading her to shadow a seasoned doula for 18 months in Washington state, where she immersed herself in the intricacies of birth support.

Through an apprenticeship model and formal training with ICEA, Courtney honed her skills as a birth doula and childbirth educator. She approaches her work with a philosophy centered on active patience, emphasizing the importance of holding space before taking action. Guided by the mantra "hold space, then act," Courtney enters each birthing environment with a peaceful presence, keen on observing before offering guidance or support.

With a deep commitment to empowering individuals through their birthing journeys, Courtney brings compassion, knowledge, and unwavering support to every client she serves. As both a doula and birth photographer, she cherishes the opportunity to witness the profound moments of childbirth and capture them with sensitivity and artistry.
